Nothing new here to report concerning the AlphaGress other than the aesthetics are beautifully done as the custom adjustment knob fits the look & feel of the razor to a tee. Movement of the mechanism is day & night better than the original Progress with no gritty like feel or squeaky sounds coming from that spot with perfect alignment of the numbered gap points to the alignment dot. With a blade installed it’s perfectly centered at #1 and without it sits right atop the + sign. The shave is just equally as good as any Progress made with a more neutral balance overall to the AlphaGress over the OG. The knob weight helps quite nicely with negating the top heaviness of the Progress and giving a more controlled feel in weight distribution. It provides a better overall shave experience, to me at least. The stand is matched to near perfection with no wobble nor leaning towards one side or another as it stands perfectly vertical. Plus, the stand has substantial weight at the base so, the AlphaGress will not fall over unless you misplace or hit the whole assembly with the razor positioned on it. Overall, an excellent job by Steve over at Alpha Shave Works in providing a razor that is both aesthetically & mechanically more sound and functional over the Legendary Merkur Progress. Alpha Shave Works has been providing some excellent releases & custom makeovers at extremely competitive prices for all shave enthusiasts to enjoy. This one is no different.
Great shaves to all.
