It's funny, I used to use an aloe vera plants inner leaves for minor burns when cooking and never thought of using it on me face.

Just a brief note of caution, a number of people, including myself, are allergic to aloe vera.

My symptoms were redness within 12 hours followed by intense heat where the aloe vera had been applied, 12 hours later my facial skin was covered in tiny cracks, looked like a dried up river bed. These cracks lasted another day and responded well to a thick face cream, I have had nothing like this problem before or since, the aloe vera was from a major US manufacturer.

There are other reports on the net from others who have had a similar reaction, some for as long as 3 months

I appreciate that this is a strange reaction because many people use aloe vera to help with allergic reactions.

If you have no issues with reactions then go for it.

I'm also mildly allergic to aloe, my symptoms aren't as severe as yours but lots of redness, dryness and discomfort ensue. I can use it when diluted such as in Thayers witch hazel which contains aloe but my skin hates the pure gel.
