Absolute Surprise!

I took what I thought was a big chance, I took advantage of the huge Blackland razor 10 year anniversary sale and bought the stainless steel version of their Vector razor with the Lite base. I have a nice small collection of DE razors and really did not want to add a different type of razor blade. However, with the 30% off sale and a generous 30 day return policy I took the plunge. If I really didn’t like the razor it was going back. Well, I don’t like it I Love it! It shaves like a dream. The weight is perfect and I really like the added width of the head of the AC blade.
I tried the Feather Proguard blade for the first three pass shaves. It was a little too mild for me. The next day I changed to the Feather Professional blade and it was smooth and efficient. I shaved with the same blade today and the shave was even better! I am looking forward to getting ten shaves out of a blade, I have read AC’s will go that long. I typically toss DE blades after two shaves.
Unlike the Blackland Blackbird there was zero learning curve with the Vector. I have no nics or irritation at all with the stainless Vector.
i am tempted to try the Feather ProSuper AC blades any suggestions/advice greatly appreciated.
Be Well,
FBF

I use the super pros in my Feather SS. You should be fine if you liked the guarded ones. Yes, they last and last.

Congratulations on your purchase / discovery. The Vector is probably my favourite razor, regardless of format. Enjoying trialing the various blades, which are fortunately far fewer than the choices of DE blades.

The Blckland list of approved Artist Club blades is rather limited. If any members have tried other blades in the Vector and like them please let me know. Thanks, FBF

My favorites were the Schick Proline P (they fitted perfectly in my razor, not always the case) and the Kai captain mild (pink). The rest not so much. Never tried guarded blades though.

As you’ve just bought the Vector on the latest sale from Blackland, the Schick Proline P30 blades will 100% work as it was updated to fit. Well worth it IMO.

I am sure guarded blades are used and enjoyed by many people. With the Lite base in the Vector the guarded blades are just too mild. Feather SuperPro blades arrive today. I will try the Schick blades next. Thank you all very much.

The guarded blade is useful when learning to use a bare blade to shave as with a shavette or honed blade. It might be a good blade for a professional barber learning to shave a customer.

I prefer guarded blades for head shaves. On the occasions that I use AC for full face shaves, absolutely, guarded blades are less than ideal.

I tried the SuperPro blade and found it aggressive but not overly so. I got a couple of weepers but nothing too bad. If I had gotten the standard base with my Vector I suspect the SuperPro would have been too much for me.
Thanks for setting me straight on the guarded blades, I will give them to a friend who shaves his head.

I add to the recommendations of the Schick P-30, and also suggest you try the Kai Captain Titan (Pink) blades.
And just because no one mentioned it yet, i'll let you know you should count on notably more shaves per blade with each brand compared to DE blades.
