A day at the beach

We're in St Ives in Cornwall for a week - that's the wife and me with granddaughter plus our friend Sophie and her granddaughter. Mid morning we took the two girls to the beach, hired chairs and erected the pop-up beach shelters - everything was delightful until I unwrapped some cakes we'd bought on the way. A gull used Sophie's head as a landing pad before making off with her Eccles cake, I fell off my beach chair in diving for cover - then nearly made myself sick trying to scoff my cake whilst laughing uncontrollably. My wife temporarily lost control of her bladder and the tears of laughter made her eyes look like Alice Cooper.

It's been a long time since I did this and was amazed just how predatory the gulls have become - we must have seen half a dozen similar incidents during the day - some very upsetting for the children involved. However, every half hour or so, I start laughing again at the thought.

Seems you have warmer, hotter even, weather than we have over here, spending time at the beach? Sounds lovely, save those predatory aerial rats. Gave me a laugh too. Enjoy the rest of the week!

Missed the tall ships, just went for a couple of days to see my brother (he recently got engaged) but did see the queues and heard it was quite a sight!
