Yes there is Halvor, but the only balm I've ever liked was the Eufros one. All the others have always made my face even more oily.

Trust you to come you with the expensive option! I have to say that an unscented Eufros is on my list so maybe... Good call, thank you. Floris do edT samples too. 👍
Well, until Christmas comes, perhaps wash your hands with Mysore Sandal soap before applying the Eufros? I love that stuff! Staying in the more affordable arena, Diptyque Tam Dao is worth sampling.

Trumpers skin food could be a good shout, it's not really a balm. Ingredients are water, alcohol, glycerine, thickener & colourant. Unlike most aftershave products it is designed to be applied to a damp face rather than dry, it then seals in the moisture... Not an amazing product but if you like the scent then a workable solution.

Have you considered LPL Oud/Santal splash? https://shavingstation.co.uk/1624-le-pere-lucien-apricot-aftershave-100ml.html
good shout. I've had a LPL aftershave before and it was pretty good.

Fine ASL was good at £15, at £25 I think it's over-priced, however I did like the smell of it so maybe I should just cough-up.

ToOBS is getting loads of mentions. I know the shave cream causes irritation for many and that's my concern. Has anyone else experienced issues with it?

TOBS: Had some issues with the sandalwood deo stick, no issues with a Mr Taylor deo. Indicates that it may be related to fragrance. FWIW.

Thanks Halvor - as you say, not conclusive but it puts enough doubt in my mind to avoid it
